Syphilis Test

Detect Syphilis Early, Treat Quickly, Stay Safe for You and Your Loved Ones

Syphilis is a common sexually transmitted infection (STI) that is on the rise in many countries, including Thailand.
This disease often shows no clear symptoms in its early stages, but if left untreated, it can progress and damage important organs such as the brain, heart, and nervous system.

The good news is that syphilis can be easily detected and completely cured if caught early.

The Syphilis Test is an important option for anyone who is concerned about sexual health, whether at risk or not.

What is Syphilis?

Syphilis is caused by the bacterium Treponema pallidum and is transmitted through sexual contact or from mother to child during pregnancy.

The disease progresses in 4 stages:

  • Stage 1: Pain-free sores at the genital area (usually heal on their own).
  • Stage 2: A rash appears all over the body, along with fever and joint pain.
  • Latent Stage: No symptoms, but the bacteria remain in the body.
  • Stage 3: Affects the heart, brain, and can lead to blindness or even death.

How is Syphilis Tested?

At LINNA Clinic, the Syphilis Test is done through a blood test, which is quick, safe, and private.

The tests used include:

  • VDRL / RPR (Screening Test) – Initial immune screening.
  • TPHA / FTA-ABS (Confirmatory Test) – Confirms the infection.
  • If infection is suspected, the test may be done along with other STD panels such as HIV, Gonorrhea, and Chlamydia.

Preparation Before the Test

  • No need to fast or avoid food or drinks.
  • Inform the doctor if you have had sores, rashes, or risky behaviors within the past 3 months.
  • If you have previously been tested or treated, inform the doctor for accurate interpretation and follow-up.

Why Get Tested?

  • To determine if you have syphilis or have been infected in the past.
  • If infected, antibiotic treatment can begin immediately to cure the infection.
  • To prevent transmission to your partner or family members.
  • To reduce the risk of transmission during pregnancy.
  • For an annual sexual health check-up or before starting a new relationship.

Who Should Get Tested?

  • Those who engage in unprotected sex.
  • People with multiple partners or those who don’t know their partner’s health status.
  • Couples who are planning to conceive.
  • People with sores, rashes, or unusual symptoms in the genital area.
  • Those who want a comprehensive sexual health check.
